“We are happy to have found a solution we can use for any client requiring migration in the future. I was able to go out over the weekend and monitor the migrations via email on my iPhone!”
Eric Jacobus
Founder
360 Tech
One of 360 Tech’s clients is an independent media and communications firm in New York City. Their client relies on 360 Tech for ongoing IT management and also for larger IT projects and purchases. For the past 15 years, their client has been using Novell GroupWise as a primary email system. However, the aging GroupWise platform was negatively affecting employee productivity. Dealing with issues such as incorrect email formatting was manageable, but they grew frustrated with the lack of software updates that would address some of these issues.
360 Tech Founder, Eric Jacobus recalled how the decision to migrate to a new platform was made. “Employees lacked the ability to perform simple tasks such as pasting data from Microsoft Office applications without losing some of the formatting. Our client also encountered technical issues such as server crashes and email clients that lacked robustness.” said Jacobus. The company wanted to use an email platform that would offer frequent feature updates. Also, it was unsure how Novell’s acquisition by Attachmate would affect the product’s roadmap. Finally, Novell announced plans to stop providing new releases of its email client for the Mac OS. Because the majority of their client’s employees use Mac OS desktops, the company felt it had to migrate to a new email platform.
