U.S. Smartphone Subscribers Pass the 100 Million Mark

According to a report by a research firm, comScore MobiLens, smartphone subscribers surpass the 100 million mark in January 2012. From October 2011 to January 2012, the number rose 13 percent to total 101.3 million subscribers.

Almost half of the smartphone subscribers used downloaded apps or a mobile browser while about three quarters of them used text messaging.

Google remains as the top smartphone platform as Samsung tops the manufacturer category.

These figures were based on a survey of more than 30,000 U.S.mobile subscribers.
