The Challenge
One of DTS’s clients, New Futuro, is a local organization that helps Latino students obtain college degrees and prepare for successful careers. As New Futuro’s off-site helpdesk provider, DTS addresses all of New Futuro’s IT needs and decisions. To accommodate New Futuro’s growth, DTS realized it needed to upgrade the organization’s messaging system. New Futuro’s legacy POP server simply could not provide the flexibility and features offered by more modern hosted email platforms.

Before recommending a new messaging system, DTS started by analyzing how New Futuro’s employees used email and managed documents. DTS determined that New Futuro would greatly benefit from a solution based on Microsoft’s Office 365 platform. For example, the platform’s instant messaging and document sharing capabilities would allow employees to communicate more efficiently. Office 365 would also provide the features and reliability of an on-premise Microsoft Exchange solution without the costs associated with maintaining on-premise hardware and software.

DTS’s Managing Director, David Le Roy, deployed a customized implementation of Office 365 specifically adapted to New Futuro’s requirements. Le Roy knew that Office 365’s capabilities would increase employee productivity and improve communications. In addition, a flat monthly rate helped solidify New Futuro’s choice of Office 365 as a new messaging system. After finalizing its selection of Office 365 as a target platform, DTS needed to find a way to migrate all of New Futuro’s mailboxes from POP servers to Office 365.

The MigrationWiz Solution
After experimenting with Microsoft’s built-in migration tools, Le Roy was looking for a solution that would provide more control over the migration process.
